General Questions

Who will be shooting my wedding?

Typically, if you have booked an engagement shoot, this will be the person who will be shooting your wedding. We have developed a team of multiple expert shooters at Memento Collective over the years in business, you will get to meet your shooter well before your wedding day! All of our shooters beautiful work is displayed on our website

Where are you based?

Our team is Based in Newcastle, NSW but we travel anywhere that you need! (Travel all over AUS is included in our packages)

Do you deliver every photograph that you take?

The short answer is no. On an average wedding, we will come home with 3,000-5,500 images.  A lot of these will be double ups, test shots, shots with bad expressions. Since our main style is candid, sometimes that can yield unflattering images of the guests in front of the lens. We spend hours sorting through all of the images ensuring you get the highest quality possible for your gallery.

We use our professional expertise to decide if an image is suited for your gallery. However, we will not delete photos that we think are deliverable. You will receive all of the images that meet our professional standard. On an average wedding, this is anywhere between 550-1,000 images.

Do you edit every image that we receive?

Absolutely! Each image you receive undergoes our artistic touch – enhancements, touch-ups, and a sprinkle of creative magic. Years of refining our craft ensure your memories are presented in the best light. While we won’t perform drastic photoshopping, we might smooth out a few blemishes. However, rest assured that we won’t manipulate images to the extent of removing a guest who accidentally wandered into a shot.

Style Questions

What is your style of photography & videography?

Our style of photography & videography is a candid, documentary approach to capturing weddings. This means that we take a step back and let the real moments unfold in front of us. However, this doesn’t mean that we won’t get into the action!

We will guide the wedding party in a direction that feels natural. We find that sometimes a little direction goes a long way. We’ll do our absolute best to make you and your partner feel comfortable around us.

Can I view a full album from start to finish?

Of course you can! We pride ourselves on being as transparent as possible. We believe this is the best way to service our clients. We encourage all of our potential clients to view full albums from all of the photographers that they enquire with. This will show the photographer & videographers skills throughout the whole wedding day.

Wedding Day Questions

How many hours do you suggest for wedding day photos?

There are a ton of variables for this question but here is a simple answer based on previous experience. If you are after us to capture you and your partner getting ready, we need 1. to 1.5 hours at each location to ensure we get all of the shots that we need.

At an average wedding where we capture bride & groom prep, we suggest 8 hours to capture everything . The ideal amount of time is 10 hours to ensure all events and plenty of dancing can get captured. Please reach out to us so we can chat about this in further detail.

How Many Photos Will I Receive?

You’ll receive over 500-800 photos, depending on how many hours we shoot and how jam-packed your wedding day is!

Will you shoot family photos at the wedding?

Most definitely, weddings are all about friends and family coming together to witness two families joining together in the name of love. Capturing family and friends together makes for a timeless piece of history that will last forever.

“The photo wrangler”

If you have a list of family photos you want taken, we have found it is best to give a copy of the list to an extroverted (loud) family member, groomsman and/or bridesmaid. We call this person ‘the photo wrangler’. It definitely helps if they know who everyone is so they can round them up quickly!

What happens if we go over the contracted timeframe?

We completely understand that all the events may not run on schedule on your day. We will never pack away our gear before the contracted time has ended. We will ask you at the end of your coverage if you would like to extend your time. If you chose to extend your coverage, we will charge the rates originally specified in the package & contract. Charged coverage will be rounded to the closest 30 minute timeframe.

Why do I have to pay for extra time?

When you book us in for your wedding day, we mark that day as yours in our calendar. This means that we will not make any other plans for that same date. If you chose to have us stay longer than originally planned we will then run into costs such as paying for the teams time. Additional coverage also means more photos & videos captured so this adds hours onto editing as well.

Business & Booking Questions

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured with public liability, if your venue would like proof of this, please reach out!

How does the booking process work?

We have an in depth section about this topic but this is the rough breakdown of how the process works.

First, you fill out our enquiry form with the details of your wedding, we will send you an email with all of the package information, once you have chosen which package you wanted to book in, we will send you over a basic questionnaire and a contract to secure your booking.

Lastly we require a non-refundable $1000 booking fee to book your date in. The final payment is due 2 weeks prior to the wedding date.

Do You Have A Payment Plan?

Yes, we can organise to split your payments into THREE installments. Just let us know if this would suit you.

What Happens If Disaster Strikes?

This has never happened and will NEVER happen. However, if it did, we have contacts all over the world that will be able to step in. These are other talented photographers/videographers who will take good care of you.

How can I be sure my images/videos won’t be lost?

The last thing you would want after your wedding is to have your photos and videos destroyed. To ensure this doesn’t happen we have put multiple measures in place. On the wedding day, we use 2 cards at the same time to ensure a duplicate is always being made. When we backup our content, we back it up to a separate hard drive as well as uploading it to the cloud. This is a safety measure for us and it makes us feel much safer.

How can I reserve my date?

With the current climate of the wedding industry, when you enquire with us, we cannot reserve a date for more than 5 business days without paying a booking fee.

When you pay your booking fee and sign your contract your date is then booked in and secured

Do I get my deposit back if I cancel the wedding?

Unfortunately no. The booking fee is used to secure your date.

If we have to change our wedding to a new date, can we use our booking fee for the new date?

Life is complicated and the unexpected is to be expected. The booking fee is non refundable as this helps to protect ourselves as a business due to turning away all other booking for your wedding date. We hope you understand that booking fee is insurance for the business to stay afloat in the event of a cancellation.
