Planning a wedding is stressful! We wouldn’t kid you about that. But we do know one thing: with a little inspiration and loads of organization and preparation, it’s pretty manageable! This blog post will give you some tips on how to plan your wedding in a way that reduces stress!
You may already have an idea of the kind of wedding you want. If not, don’t worry! Sometimes it takes a while to work out what your dream wedding would be like and that’s okay! Try some Pinterest boards or even just think about things you’d love at your wedding (check out our Pinterest for some wedding inspo!).
Once you have a good idea of what kind of wedding you want, it’s time to start planning! The first thing you need is a timeline checklist. This will help keep you organized and on track.
You can download ours for free here.
It includes everything from the very first stages of planning all the way up until the wedding day!
Now that you’ve got a timeline, it’s time to start planning the details! We’re going to give you our top tips for how to plan your wedding in a way that is as stress-freee as possible!
Ask for help!
The first rule of great wedding planning? Asking for help! Planning a wedding is a huge task so ask people who have done it before! If you have friends and family helping, make sure everyone involved knows what they need to do and when. You don’t want anything falling through or anyone feeling overwhelmed by their workload, this will make them stressed too. If you have family helping out with things like decorating, make sure they know exactly what needs to be done ahead of time, you don’t want any last-minute surprises!
Lock-In Your Date!
Try not to leave everything till the very end – especially important items such as catering, photography, or videography. Due to the current wedding climate, wedding dates are booking out faster than ever. Don’t wait until the last minute to book your dream date otherwise, you will likely miss out! We recommend planning your wedding 18 months in advance, if that’s too far into the future, 12 months will work too.
Enjoy every second of your day
Remember, it’s your wedding and you should enjoy it! If there are things that you’re not so keen on (like the traditional sit-down dinner), why not try something different? We love food trucks as an option for catering – they offer a huge range of cuisines and everyone can get something they love. Check out our list of recommended vendors here: Fav vendors!
Get your partner involved!
Try to get your partner involved in the planning process if you can. It will help them feel like they are part of it all, which is so important for their happiness on the big day too! This is the best practice for you to have since you’re about to be married! You’re gonna be with each other forever! and having an experience of making a decision coming from both perspective is something that would really give you a lesson as couple as well.
You can change your mind!
Remember that nothing is written in stone and if something isn’t working out at any point don’t be afraid to change your plans. Every bride & groom have different ideas about what her perfect day would look like, but remember that final decisions always need to come from you as the bride or groom! You’re allowed to say no! Planning should make you happy not stressed or overwhelmed – it’s meant to be one of the most wonderful times together before your wedding day
Chat with people who know weddings!
